WE GROW

Godly Play

Godly Play is a creative, imaginative approach to Christian formation and spiritual guidance. It values process, openness, discovery, community, and relationships. Modeling the worship life, stories, symbols, and rituals of Christian congregations, it is based on Montessori principles and brings Bible stories to life via storytelling, our sense of wonder, and active play. We welcome all 5 years of age and above. Parents are especially welcome to stay with their children.

Wrestling With Faith

Wrestling With Faith meets once a month on every third Thursday evening at 7:00 pm. Meetings will continue monthly during the Covid 19 period by either meeting outside in good weather, or inside in a room that will permit social distancing.

We discuss our doubts and questions about faith, both as they affect our own lives and as faith governs the church. Participants are encouraged to discuss personal beliefs and non-beliefs.

We have wine and snacks at every meeting to help discussions flow freely and to encourage good will among the attendees.

Wrestling With Faith is one of most interesting and enjoyable meetings at Church of the Advent.

Multi-Generational Summer Bible Series

Our summer Bible Series is an extended family event. Friends, neighbors, grandparents, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, children and grandchildren are all welcome. Usually held during summer on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 pm. We have a light supper before starting the program at 7:00 pm highlighting a Bible story with a short video The discussions around the table are extra interesting with such a wide range of generations participating. We end with Compline.

Cursillo

Cursillo is a community of faith that is dedicated to exploring the love of God and sharing God's love with one another. The three day Cursillo Weekend offers an opportunity to hear the Christian message fully in a relaxed, nurturing environment without distraction. During these three days, lay people and clergy share their experiences and perspectives on a variety of topics related to the love of God, the Christian life, and Christian community. Cursillo enables people not only to grow in their faith, but also to gain a deeper understanding of the teachings of Jesus and how we can serve him.
